Rock the Raft: Join the Musical Mayhem on Water!

The annual Shepperton Village Fair Raft Race returns this June with a theme that’s sure to make waves: “Rock the Raft: Make, Paddle and Roll“! Picture yourself and three mates transforming a homemade raft into your favourite band, then paddling down the Thames to thunderous applause from the riverbank crowds.

Whether you’re channelling ABBA’s disco magic, Queen’s theatrical majesty, Duran Duran’s new romantic flair, or Blur’s Britpop brilliance, we want to see your musical creativity float! Perhaps you’ll bring Oasis back together (maybe on water they won’t fight?), rock out as Green Day’s punky trio plus one, or go full glam as Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters. From Fleetwood Mac to Foo Fighters, Spice Girls to Stormzy, The Clash to Coldplay, BTS to Billie Eilish – every era and genre is welcome on the waves!

For just £15 per raft (much cheaper than a concert ticket!), you’ll get the chance to show off your construction skills, paddling prowess, and costume creativity. Teams of four can enter, with ages ranging from 12 to adult, making it perfect for families, friends, or even that office team-building activity you’ve been dreading.

The less-than-one-kilometre route starts at Nauticalia, the Race’s Sponsors, where your waterborne masterpiece will be cheered on by thousands of spectators lining the banks. And don’t worry about keeping perfect rhythm – it’s about having fun, making memories, and possibly getting thoroughly drenched!

So dust off those wigs, dig out those band T-shirts, and get ready to paddle like a rockstar. The Thames is calling, and it’s time to answer with some serious musical mayhem on water!
